Laverna the nurse came today. The home health company started a new policy dealing with insurance that they have to update patient information every 60 days. So all the annoying “Does it hurt when you pee?” questions were asked again today. I don’t really care for Laverna but as long as she’s not trying to give me an IV I don’t hate her. A few years ago when I was getting my IVIG treatments, she came out to give it once and never came back. She nearly mutilated my hand, and arm. She didn’t mutilate me today but every time I tried to start conversation with her she didn’t respond nicely. She didn’t find my jokes amusing either.

The Top Ten Things You Should Never Assume About Someone In A Wheelchair:

10. They’re hard of hearing so you need to speak loudly and slowly for them to understand.
09. They want you to grab the handles of their wheelchair, shake it from side to side, and yell “Earthquake!!”
08. They need extra time to take a test since their physical condition must affect their intellect as well.
07. That even though you’re complete strangers, you have the right to ask them bluntly : “What happened?”
06. They want to race you up and down the isle of the store.
05. That they really want to meet your brother’s friend’s sister’s neighbor who just so happens to be in a wheelchair as well.
