once upon a time

Today went well. Really well.
I almost chickened out of reading my “Top Ten Things Never To Assume About Someone In A Wheelchair” list mainly because looking at the people there I didn’t think anyone would find them humorous. The list ended up just being the top six things, and I sort of just said that they were meant to be funny before I read it. I wasn’t nervous and people actually laughed and they came up to me later and said I did really well. Yay God.
I met a lady whose niece or granddaughter has an autoimmune disease. She bought a bracelet and earrings while I was speaking, but later she came over to my table to see me. She had won a basket in the door prize and said she wanted me to have it and also got my address and said she was going to write me. One of the nicest ladies ever, I think. And I don’t even know her name.
There were different healthcare facilities or companies there, mostly related Alzheimer's disease or dealing with the elderly, and they each set up a table with information and usually something free for everyone to take. I racked up. Magnets, coffee mugs, water bottles, pens, and candy candy candy. I love free.
